Lorne Osborne

PVA Trainer- Airdrie, AB

With 12 years in the fitness industry, and a degree in Kinesiology and Psychology from the University of Lethbridge, I have learned a lot about fitness and the body. I have learned that no client is alike and that no generic program will work for everyone. Fitness is a fine balance between work, play, and relaxation. I am a huge believer in moderation. I am not into crash diets- or 7 days/week fitness programs. I have proven time and time again that by promising yourself 3 days of exercise a week and 80% healthy nutrition, you will achieve your goal and you will be able to maintain the lifestyle.

My philosophy on fitness is very simple: promise yourself more healthy days then unhealthy days and you will start to see the benefits and begin to tip the scales to a healthy and active lifestyle. By feeling and seeing the positive impacts on your life, it will become easier to make a healthy lifestyle a continuous habit.

Personally I am not a “gym junkie”. I exercise daily because I love to play sports and to be outside. Being in the gym allows me to do the things that I really want to do, as well as provides me with energy for the lifestyle that I live. In the summer time you will find me hiking nearly every weekend. In the winter you will find me playing hockey, volleyball, and on my snowboard.

My hope for every client is that they realize that they have total control. I will be able to give you a game plan, and to facilitate your workouts, but I won’t be able to do them for you. I am here to teach, motivate and guide you to your goals so that you will be able to continuously achieve all of your goals. You just have to take control.

As much as I would love to train you for the rest of my life- my goal is that I shouldn’t have to. You will leave training with me with the tools and knowledge needed to be able to continue on your own. That being said, I do have a few clients that I’ve had for years, but it’s mostly because they just love the motivation and accountability- but that is your choice.

Kim Marshall

Hello there! I wanted to start off by welcoming you to my team and also let you know how excited I am to help you start conquering your goals! I have had great success helping people achieve their fitness goals and create healthy habits and I am excited to do the same for you. I like to make the process as personable as possible and I find that it is easier for me to build rapport with my clients if they know a little bit about me, and my training style. This way you will be able to feel more comfortable speaking your mind and asking any questions you may have.

I come from a small town in Northern British Columbia, where I grew up playing almost every sport imaginable, but focused mostly on Hockey. After high school I played 1 year of junior hockey before heading to University to figure out what I wanted to do. I quickly found out my passion was in sport, health and fitness. With almost 10 years in the fitness community, an extensive background in sport rehabilitation, and a Kinesiology Degree from the University of the Fraser Valley, I have learned a lot about fitness and the human body. Even with all of my years in the health and wellness community, I still find myself learning new things about the body daily. I believe that it is my passion for learning that has helped me excel in the industry, and helps me deliver a great service to my clients.

I would like my clients to appreciate that I am not here to force them to work out or eat healthy, but rather that I am here to guide them in taking the right steps towards bettering themselves. The training program is here to simplify things and I am here to motivate you through this process, but it’s up to you to take the time and make the effort to follow through. I myself go to the gym on a regular basis and my goals have changed over the years. Instead of having an intense training regime to prepare me for sport I now train to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.

One of my philosophies is: to truly succeed as a trainer you need to help your clients achieve their current goals, but also give them the knowledge base and motivation to achieve their health and wellness goals for years to come. That is my ultimate goal for each and every client.

Shayna Campbell

PVA Trainer- Calgary, AB

I graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology in 2009. After graduation, I volunteered overseas (Thailand and Africa) to fulfill my desire to travel before becoming a Personal Trainer at World Health in Calgary, Alberta.  Personal Training was only my 1 year plan; however, I loved the job and the clients so much that I stayed for over 2. During my years there, I worked with all types of clients to achieve a wide range of goals.

My time at the gym came to an end when my husband and I bought a house in the opposite end of the city.  The move forced me to downsize my training business and move to another gym while I worked for a non-for-profit Health and Wellness Foundation downtown. I had this downtown job AKA desk job for 2 years. I finally experienced everything so many clients had been complaining about! My lifestyle had been flipped upside down!  I began to feel the effects of sitting all day and staring at a computer screen instead of running around a gym hauling weights around.  I made a promise to myself that my health and fitness would remain a priority – so I started to add to my collection of gym equipment in my basement for easy access.

I am happy to say that I did manage to keep fitness a priority in my life – but I know that it is a HUGE struggle to go from a desk ALL day to the gym and actually feel motivated – this is where I can empathize with your situation.  I’ve been there, and it’s a struggle; but the benefits of working out have made me more productive at work, and helped me to enjoy the time I could spend improving myself during the workouts.

Today, I have a daughter and son who are now 3 and under 1 years young, respectively. I am working with ProVision Athletics as an online trainer, training individuals and groups out of my house, as well as training soccer club kids (ages 12-18) every week to keep within the fitness routine.  This is the best time of my life – I am still able to help my clients (you) make the lifestyle changes and achieve your goals, but I am also able to stay home with my children.

My training philosophy is simple:

Be honest (to me and yourself) and set small goals for your self to achieve your ultimate one. I am not here to force you to do anything that you are not capable of doing; I am simply here to help you realize your own potential. Being healthy doesn’t mean that you have to diet or NEVER indulge in your favorite foods…it means that YOU have the power and knowledge to moderate yourself. Through training, I have the ability to give you the knowledge and confidence to make this lifestyle change a lasting one.

Becky Doherty

PVA Trainer- Lethbridge

I graduated from the University of Lethbridge in 2009 and attained a degree in Exercise Science. Even before finishing school I have worked in rehab teaching people with pain or injuries how to get back to the activities they love.

My exercise philosophy is that in order for health to be achieved and maintained there must be a proper balance between rest and activity. I believe that being fit and healthy doesn’t have to be hard and time consuming and you should be able to do it from anywhere. Most importantly it should never feel like a chore and be balanced with a healthy dose of relaxation and your favorite foods. It is my job to help teach you how to set small goals and focus on positives that will get you progress and show you your goals are within your reach. You just have to WANT it! I cannot and will not force you to do anything you are uncomfortable with or do not feel capable of doing. I simply want to give you all the knowledge and confidence to make living a healthy lifestyle one that you can maintain.

On a more personal note, I am a mom to a little boy who keeps me on my toes and ensures I get out to enjoy the outdoors. I have always had a passion for fitness but am by no means a gym rat. I do almost all of my exercising at home or outside. Some of the activities that I love doing in my free time include running, hiking, kickboxing and snowboarding.

Jessy Bogacki

I am a Health and Fitness Federation of Canada Certified Exercise Physiologist. I graduated from York University with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and certificate in Fitness Assessment and Exercise Counselling. I also obtained a minor in French studies if you prefer to talk to me in French. While at York University I was a goaltender for the varsity York Lions Hockey team.  I also spearheaded York University’s first LGBT+ fitness class.  I currently work at the Canada Games Complex in the city of Thunder Bay as a fitness coach and fitness instructor. I have worked with the Toronto Maple Leafs, NHL prospects, firefighters, people with disabilities, chronic disease population as well as the general population in assessing fitness, and creating and implementing fitness programs. I instructed TRX, spin, kettle bell, aquatics and bootcamp classes and have been coaching and training hockey teams for 15+years.

I myself love to exercise and do so most days of the week, although I prefer weight training in the gym to cardio. I also enjoy hiking, sailing, rock climbing and team sports.  My philosophy on fitness is that health needs to be made a priority and the body needs to go beyond its comfort zone. Workouts won’t be made to hurt clients but to challenge the body in order to create adaptations based on goals. Everyone faces their own challenges, for me it is post-concussion syndrome, together we will find a way to work through the client’s challenges and achieve desired goals. There is so much variety to fitness and I will make it my goal to find something you enjoy.

Tannis Evanchuk-Saunders

Hello, I’m so excited to be a part of your journey.  Health and wellness is a true passion of mine and I cannot wait to help you achieve your goals!

My philosophy is this; fitness is more than looking good, its feeling good on the inside and outside. If you can be honest with yourself and with me, we will find your perfect balance and be able to make health and wellness a simple way of life.

I want you to know a bit about me, I have 2 children my son is almost 6 and my daughter is 9 months. My life is busy chasing them and keeping up with all of my son’s sports that I help coach. I have always enjoyed being active but I definitely don’t live in the gym.  I love being outside and play sponge hockey in the winter, and spend spring, summer and fall at our cabin hiking, rock climbing, swimming and playing with my kids.

I graduated with my rehabilitation certificate in 2009 and then completed my Kinesiology degree in 2012.  I have been a Recreation Director for the last 4 years and have worked with an array of ages, fitness levels and abilities. I love teaching pre and postnatal fitness and bootcamp classes and have done so for the last 5 years.

Moderation is key and Fitness can and should be fun, I will make it my mission to motivate, encourage and guide you to reach your health and wellness goals for life!

David Thurmond

PVA Trainer- “Calgary, AB”

Hello I’m David and I moved to Calgary, Alberta, from Taupo, New Zealand. I grew up in a small town in Eastern Oregon and graduated with a B.Sc. in Kinesiology and Business from Lewis-Clark State College in Idaho. My love for travel and the great outdoors made the move to Canada an exciting yet natural fit. Passionate about healthy living for all ages, I love working with youth and spent two years working at a children’s summer camp in Naples, Maine specializing as a pioneering counselor. Spending seven days a week for nine weeks teaching kids about hiking, climbing, camping, fire and cooking was one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my life.

I know that no single approach is the right one for every individual. Everyone is unique and deserves the most personal program just for them! That is why I’ve also acquired my National Academy of Sports Medicine Personal Training certification while working full-time. I continue to expand my arsenal of knowledge daily to give you the best possible experience.

I also don’t eat, breathe, and live for the gym either! I maintain a well-balanced lifestyle besides the gym with sports, hiking, fishing, video games, and eating my favorite foods or watching a movie. With that being said, exercising most days of the week allows me to do all the things I love while also staying healthy.

I’m excited to invite you to take this journey with me. I’ll be there to guide you every step of the way, but you yourself have to take the steps. Not only will I motivate and support you, I’ll actually be giving you the tools so you can personally bring about the changes you want to see in your life.

Jennifer Symanyk

PVA Trainer – Ontario

I attended the University of Windsor and obtained a BSc. In Human Kinetics with a minor in Exercise Physiology in 2006. From there I became a Can Fit Pro certified Personal Trainer Specialist and began my rewarding career helping others reach their fitness goals. Over the years, I have furthered my education as a Certified Kettle Bell Instructor, Older Adult Fitness Specialist, Sport Conditioning Specialist and Functional Movement Screening Level 2. I have been in the fitness industry for over ten years and absolutely love it because I get to change lives! I am currently running my own in-home personal training business in the region of Kitchener-Waterloo helping a variety of clients from athletes, to husband and wife couples trying to lose weight, and those recovering from injury.

I have always been involved in sport and played on multiple teams in high school. To this day I still play semi-competitive womens soccer and exercise on a regular basis although it’s tough to fit it in sometimes with three kids! I try to make it a priority at least 3x/week and feel much better when I do. Plus, when my kids see me being active and having fun, I can lead by example and hope they will follow in my footsteps.

I love being active and want others to reap the benefits of an active, healthy lifestyle as well. I hope to share my knowledge and experience with you while getting to know you personally so that I can create the best plan possible to help you reach your fitness goals and be the best you can be! I will show you how to eat properly (while still enjoying the things you love), workout safely but effectively, and see results while staying motivated to continue week after week.

My philosophy toward fitness is this: You can do anything you put your mind to. Try not to go more than 3 days without exercise. Find an activity that you love to do, otherwise you won’t stick with it. Make the little things count such as taking the stairs, parking further away from the store, and giving yourself a pat on the back when you’ve had a good nutrition day. East less and move more. Don’t wait until you have reached your goal to be proud of yourself, be proud of every step you take toward reaching that goal!

Alan Sze

PVA Trainer – “Ontario”

I have been working in the health, fitness and rehabilitation field for over 15 years.  I have worked with a variety of clients, from athletes in the NHL, NCAA, Tri/Duathletes, marathoners, Rep hockey and Rep indoor/beach volleyball, all striving to be the best they could be to clients who want to be healthy and be able to play with their kids.

I graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor’s of Physical Health and Education.  I then attended Sheridan college to complete my Diploma in Sports Injury Management.  I am a Registered Kinesiologist with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario, and a Certified Athletic Therapist with the Canadian Athletic Therapist Association.

My passion for fitness started in elementary school where I ran track.  I continued to run track, and started cross country in high school.  After high school, I continued my love of staying active by competing in 1/2 marathons and as a duathlete.  I also enjoy hiking and playing many sports, including ball hockey, indoor and beach volleyball, basketball and baseball.  Being active for me is fun!  Working out allows me to stay in shape to play the many sports I enjoy!

I love working with people, and helping people achieve their goals!  My training philosophy is to help you “Learn more, Know more, Achieve more.”  When you learn and know more, you are able to achieve, and more importantly, maintain your goals.      I am also a strong believer of building a good foundation of stability, correcting muscle imbalance and improper biomechanical/movement patterns.    Just like building a house, if you do not know how to build a solid foundation, the roof and walls will always collapse.
